Ella's Birthday

We had our family celebration for Ella on Sunday night, since we couldn't be sure Daddy would be around at all on her actual big day.  I always let the girls make any request they want for their birthday dinner.  Last year Ella requested Hawaiian Haystacks, this year her tastes have grown up along with her and she requested Shrimp Linguine and Breadsticks.  She also said she wanted a cake with either raspberries or mangoes.  After scouring through recipes I found one for a "Berrymisu Trifle".  I made it and it turned out delicious. . .it was definitely my kind of dessert as well!

Her big gift this year was her first pet.  She picked out a Betta that is red, white, and blue and named it America. :) We gave her the fish bowl and then took her to the pet store where she got to choose the fish and all of the bowl décor.  She is very proud of her fish, and Hadley is DEFINITELY fond of it as well (she will pull a chair over multiple times a day to watch the "FEESH" and yell it over and over).  Daddy gave Ella some used kids golf clubs, so that she could go golfing with him and she got curlers from Mommy (she'd been begging for some for awhile now).  Maggie gave her some sticker earrings, lip gloss, and nail polish and Hadley gave her some new chapter books.  It was fun celebrating with her and making her feel special.  She was more than pleased with her birthday surprises, which made it all the more wonderful for the rest of us!
